What To Do With Ron Artest?

The curious case of Ron "Metta World Peace" Artest has delved into its next chapter with his recent vicious  elbow to the dome of  James Harden.

First off, Artest's name change has to be one of the stupidest things ever done, changing your name to promote a word that doesn't exist in your vocabulary while still being such an uncontrollable, headstrong human being is just straight up dumb. It's still Artest hiding behind that name, he hasn't changed a single bit  and as we have all seen actions speak louder than words or in this case a name. My biggest issue with Artest is the fact he is a repeat offender, and he has been up to his no good bullshit for years, this is a man who is almost single-handedly to blame for one of the most disgraceful occurrences ever at a sporting event (The Malice at the Palace). And the only person saving him from all that blame is one of the few individuals as mentally challenged as him, his Pacer partner in crime, Stephen Jackson. The fact that Artest is still in the league after everything he has done, solely due to the fact that he contain opposing teams best wing reflects poorly on the league. The Lakers should be ashamed that they trot him out on the court, they should be ashamed that they pay this man millions of dollars, only to have him abuse his power and privileges. Basically the only two rules in the NBA are: 1. Don't assault fans and kickstart a stadium wide brawl. 2. Don't assault defenseless opponents completely unprovoked.

Artest has violated both of these. I sincerely hope that David Stern comes down like a fucking hammer on Artest, as a start he should not see the court for the rest of this season and the playoffs, and his entire future in the league should be in jeopardy. Raffi Torres, of the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes, just got a  25 game suspension which was completely deserved for a hit on Marian Hossa, but at least Hossa saw him coming, and  Hossa was wearing pads. Harden was blindsided by a cheapshot to the side of his head by an elbow, arguably the most forceful part of a human body. Who knows the long term effects Harden could face, he was having a breakout season and should still run away with the Sixth Man of the Year Award but  this could impact his entire career. And just the possibility that the career of one of the NBA's brightest talents could be forever altered is enough reason to make sure that Artest doesn't have the chance to step on a court as an NBA player again.
